Anansi is on a mission to ensure that businesses have the right risk protection for their customers when things go wrong during the transit process. We have identified a $33B market that's ready for disruption - just 10% of shipments are currently insured - and are already gaining traction with some major players in the market. We're starting with Offcourse, an app providing automated cover for shipping losses and delays on Shopify. We've recently raised a £1.5M pre-seed round from a reputable VC and are building out our core team.

Engineering @ Anansi 👩‍💻

What you'll do 👀

  • Be in charge of the Tech strategy, taking into account performance, security and maintainability and build a delivery plan together with the CTO and the team.
  • Analyse our current platform to identify technical inefficiencies and optimise them for scalability.
  • Work closely with the product team to deliver the Anansi vision in a timely manner and help build a delivery plan.
  • Lead of the day to day development, helping the team build and maintain the codebase, as well as healthy services around external/internal APIs and other information sources.
  • Work with a production system, utilising Agile processes such as: code review and CI/CD practices, unit testing and functional end-to-end testing.
  • Team management and mentoring, leveraging your skills and experience.

  • 8+ years of professional Software Engineering Experience
  • Experience with software development best practices, cloud architectures, microservices, containerization, and design patterns
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining scalable and "high throughput" systems
  • Can build and manage a scalable infrastructure on AWS
  • Can manage relational databases at scale
  • Experience in managing a CI/CD pipeline
  • Track record of driving product quality via modern testing methodologies
  • Experience leading teams as a fast growing startup environment to deliver the vision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Having a passion for teaching and learning
  • Experienced in a backend technology (Python preferred)
  • Experienced in a front-end technology
  • Good communication in English
